Some results and images of International Archives Day Bangladesh (IADB) 2015

On 9 June The National Archives of Bangladesh organized a seminar in the Auditorium of The National Archives. Honourable minister & Secretary of Cultural Affairs, Asaduzzaman Noor, was present. Bangladesh Archives & Records Management Society (BARMS) was the sponsor of this big event. On the same day Friends of Archives Bangladesh (FAB) organized a round table discussion on ARM at Daly Prothom Alo.

Subjects in these events were:

1. Best Archives   —> Best Nation; Good Governance / Sincere History: empowering of Archives & Good Governance Network (= AGGN).
2. Archives & Public records Act. GOVT got again interested, both by Ministry for Culture as well as Information Commissioner.
3. Gazipur residing National university will initiate Certificate Course on Archives Management. Archives Courses ISLM / CSE depts Rajshahi University, Dhaka University, SUST Sylhet, Khulna University, IUBAT Dhaka, Daffodil In’l University
4. Mrs dr Helena Forde may be invited to give training in NAB, on Archives Management. As well as Savumtara Raj Gopal of Nat. Archiv Malaysia (=NAM)
5. Further development of Private Archives Managing Institute like Heritage Archives Bdesh History (= HABH) in Rajshahi, Kazla Gate of prof Mahbubur Rahman.
6. IUBAT Archives Management VC’s office;
7. Sardah Bdesh Police Academy Archives dept.
8. Dr Gazi Mizan Medical College & Hospital in Khulna; ZIA Heart Hospital in Dinajpur.
9. Atis Ltd Archives Management in Dhaka, Chittagong, Feni.
10. Khaza Corporation Archives & Information Management, Rajshahi.
11. Secretaries & record keeping staffs of Kishoreganj, Pakundia, Narundi, Jamalpur, Baraigram, Ioara, Bogra, Shipganj, Birampur, Dinajpur, Joypurhat, Panchbibi, Mohammedpur, Khulna, Comilla, Feni, Parchuram, Chittagong can be included in AGGN  (= Archives & Good Governance Network)
Together with the budget preparation to arrange some fund for the management of the District Record Rooms: each of the 65 District Record Rooms will receive 3 to 6 lakh Taka (Tk 300.000 to 600.000) for next financial year, as Jalal proposed (announced in the May 2015 meeting of BarmS), these issues can be milestones on further development of archiving system in the whole of bangladeshi Society and GOVT in particular. Local FAB groups (Pressclub, journalists, teachers, students NGO – members, local historians, for example Shatabdir Kontho group in kishoreganj) should get our attention more and more as action points for the nation wide Archives Good Governance Network (AGGN).
