Venue: Room-1007, Arts Building, University of Dhaka

A two-day lecture-cum-practical session on “Records Management, Conservation, Preservation, Restoration of Records and Archival History of Bangladesh” was held in the Department of Information Science and Library Management (ISLM), University of Dhaka on Ist & Eight September 2012. Total 35 students from ISLM Dept. attended the session. It was jointly organized by BARM and ISLM, DU.

The lecture-cum-practical session was conducted by Mohammad Elias Miah senior archivist, Bangladesh national archives. The participants received valuable information as well as practical knowledge regarding various aspects of records management and problems and archiving in the context of Bangladesh. The participants expressed their gratitude to the organizer of this session. They informed that they were impressed by the activities of BARM and expressed their eagerness to be associated with the activities of BARM. They opined that this kind of knowledge based exercises will contribute substantially in ensuring socio-economic development of the country in this evolving knowledge society.

It is worth mentioned that, Professor Dr. Muhammad Mezbah-ul-Islam, Department of Information Science and Library Management, University of Dhaka, played an important role in organization of the programme. Dr.Mezbah expressed his gratitude to Mr. Elias for providing such kind of voluntary work through BARM and informed to students that in near future more different types of programmes will be organized extensively He has given thanks to all for success of the program.
